Elegant New In-Wall Touchscreen Debuts from ReQuest
Ballston Spa, New York-October 2008-ReQuest, a leading manufacturer of digital media servers and whole-house entertainment systems, is introducing an elegant new control option. The ReQuest TS6 in-wall touchscreen is a compact, powerful controller designed to mount flush with a wall surface.
Measuring just 7 by 6 inches, the TS6 requires a mounting depth of only 2 inches. It features a full, 640x480-pixel, 5.7-inch diagonal touchscreen surface, and is easy to configure to provide full control of any ReQuest F-Series, N-Series, or iQ Intelligent Music System. The TS6 connects to a home network via a single CAT5 link and automatically finds any ReQuest server connected to the network. Unique to the TS6 is that it can be powered by a standard PoE switch or via an optional 48V external PoE injector.
According to Peter Cholnoky, CEO of ReQuest, "The new touchscreen offers ReQuest's powerful graphical user interface-a clear, highly legible, and impressively intuitive GUI providing full control of music, viewing of photos, and much more." Users can effortlessly browse collections, select and build playlists, change presets on the optional radio tuners (AM/FM, XM, Sirius, or network-streaming), and fully control connected cable or satellite set-top boxes. When used with the ReQuest iQ Music System, the TS6 offers control of one or more rooms in a home. It also provides access and display of installed ReQuest widgets-small applications that run on the host server in the form of local weather, stock tickers, and local security or remote web-cams.
By using open-source operating-system underpinnings, ReQuest ensures that the TS6 provides the flexibility demanded by the most adept custom installers. What's more, it incorporates such ergonomic touches as software-controlled LCD backlighting, a user-configurable dimming delay, onboard brightness control, and adjustable panel mount to provide the best customer viewing angle depending on the height of the TS6.

ReQuest Introduces Hi-Def TV GUI Across Its Server Lineup
Ballston Spa, New York—September 2008—ReQuest, the leader in high-end media servers, recently introduced a new graphical user interface (GUI) for its iQ whole-house music system, and now introduces the GUI for use with the N-Series and F-Series media servers as well. The HD-TV GUI is a simple yet powerful wide-screen interface that delivers total control of system operation through clear, intuitive, icon-based commands displayable on any large-screen television that accepts 720p or higher signals.
“The HD GUI delivers crisp, great-looking 16:9 images and fast, incredibly easy response, thanks to its big, 720p HD output and wonderfully simple on-screen interface,” says ReQuest’s CEO, Peter Cholnoky. “The user needs just five commands—Up, Down, Left, Right, and Enter—to perform any operation, which can be issued by
virtually any available IR remote controller. There’s no learning curve to climb because navigation and use are entirely self-prompting,” Cholnoky concludes.
The new ReQuest HD TV GUI allows users to navigate all the sources and control functions of their ReQuest system on-screen in 720p format via any HDTV, with fast, “pop-up/down” response. Any conventional infrared remote control can provide command of the TV-GUI using simple, easily learned (or programmed) directional-cursor codes. ReQuest also provides a full library of discrete control codes and code sets, including the all-important operating and music-programming functions, for installers or users who wish to integrate more complex control schemes.
Using the HD TV GUI, the user can select music genres, choose and build playlists, or search content by album, track or artist, using new, faster algorithms—including a very cool function for scrolling through album cover-art. The HD-TV GUI delivers access to AM/FM, XM and Sirius satellite, or Net-streaming radio including FineTune™ streamed-to-order stations, via presets or search, as well as the ability to browse and view photo collections. It also incorporates ReQuest’s “widgets”—informative software nuggets such as weather, stock ticker, and webcam or local-network security-cam windows—that run on the host server.
The new HD-TV GUI is compatible with any 720p-capable screen. Graphics are delivered via the server’s VGA output, so typical installation requires an inexpensive VGA-component converter such as the Audio Authority Model 9A60, or other means of accepting or converting VGA signals. Typical installations will also include an IR extender, permitting users to aim their remote intuitively at the screen. The ReQuest HD-TV GUI is incorporated into ReQuest operating system v4.6.3, available now from all authorized ReQuest dealers and installers as well as via online updates directly from the server.
ReQuest Unveils Intelligent Media Client
Network Add-on Brings Local DVD, Video, and Music
Playback and Archiving to Multiroom Systems
Ballston Spa, New York—September 2008—Digital media server trendsetter, ReQuest, is unveiling a groundbreaking new product that will bring online streaming content and DVD movies into living rooms of owners of the ReQuest iQ and F-Series media servers. The ReQuest Intelligent Media Client (IMC) is a powerful network device that creates an expandable media platform and a new level of convenience and functionality for mutliroom enjoyment of music, videos, photos, and information widgets, and it provides upscaled 1080p HD playback of local and archived DVD movies.
Peter Cholnoky, CEO of ReQuest, says, “When combined with ReQuest servers, the IMC delivers a complete entertainment ecosystem that includes multiroom music, videos, photos, and Web-based widgets such as weather, stocks, and web-cams. The expandable platform empowers home owners to enjoy their CD and DVD content as well as leverage the expanding online services for streaming and downloadable content.”
The ReQuest Intelligent Media Client includes a slot-loading DVD drive to deliver local playback of DVDs, as well as the ability to archive movies to the host system’s iQ or F-Series media server. Once archived, music, movies, and videos become part of the server’s library, available for search, instant recall, and enjoyment in any room of the house via ReQuest’s powerful yet simple graphical user interface (GUI). Movie playback, whether local or archived, is upscaled to 1080p by the IMC for near-HD image quality via its HDMI and component outputs. The IMC also acts as a gateway to online media and offers access to millions of videos from YouTube. In the near future, ReQuest plans to integrate many more services like YouTube for streaming and downloadable content of music, video, and photos.
The IMC provides a user experience as impressively elegant as its performance. Because its operating system runs from solid-state memory, the IMC is incredibly quiet, and its gigabit Ethernet networking makes communication and response lightning fast. And because ReQuest’s new on-screen HD-TV GUI serves as the main interface for all content and control, it is incredibly easy and intuitive to use. An infrared-in jack lets the IMC integrate local, full-system control with no additional hardware other than a standard IR-sensor. And any IR remote can quickly be configured to operate the ReQuest HD-TV GUI using just the four basic directional cursor commands, plus Enter.
Setup is equally easy: The IMC requires just a standard Ethernet CAT5 connection to the home network, and is quickly configured using the HD TV GUI. The IMC provides high-definition video output up to 1080p via HDMI and component video simultaneously, allowing installers to display HD on the local room’s TV or projection system while distributing the same HD content throughout the house. Connections for optical digital audio output are supported for the local home theater or stereo audio installation.
Not only is ReQuest’s new Intelligent Media Client easy and affordable, it is intriguingly scalable as well. ReQuest will introduce storage-expansion options using standard gigabit-Ethernet NAS (network accessible storage) support in Q4 2008 so that owners’ content libraries can grow as needed, economically, without their being forced to purchase expensive proprietary storage.

ReQuest's Freedom Remote Control Now Available for Entire Product Line!
ReQuest Proclaims Full-Line Emancipation
Freedom WiFi Remote Now Available Across Full Product Range
Ballston Spa, New York—March 4, 2008—ReQuest, the well established leader in hard disk music servers and server-based whole-house media systems, has announced that its Freedom touchscreen wireless remote control system is now available across its entire product line. Introduced last fall exclusively for the iQ Intelligent Music System, the Freedom remote (which runs on a Nokia N800 “Internet Tablet” handheld controller) is now available to extend full command to ReQuest’s N.Series, F.Series, and S.Series Music Servers using ReQuest’s simple and intuitive graphical user interface with commands, graphics, and icons.
“Freedom proved hugely popular among iQ-system owners and designers almost immediately,” says ReQuest’s V.P. of Sales & Marketing, Bill McKiegan. “So it was imperative that we extend the benefit to all ReQuest owners.”
ReQuest’s Freedom transforms a Nokia N800 handheld tablet—which means roughly 6x3x0.5 inches and is equipped with a full-color, 800x480-pixel touchscreen into a full-function WiFi controller for all ReQuest music servers. The user simply inserts the Freedom SD card into an N800’s SD memory slot, runs the included installer, and is immediately ready to enjoy a portable, full-function touchscreen system commander. The Freedom/N800 delivers full control, communicating via 802.11b/g WiFi over a home network, and then to the ReQuest server using IP.
Running ReQuest’s award-winning Serious Play Media Manager, Freedom delivers the complete music server experience including music selection, volume control, and playlist creation. Serious Play makes it easy to select a favorite artist, album, track, or playlist, with Album Art for the entire collection and fingertip highlighting/dragging make programming and selection completely intuitive. And if an exact song title or artist name escapes the user, Serious Play’s search engine can track it down instantly. Playlist creation is equally simple: the user simply drags the desired track into position and drops it onto the playlist. Freedom requires zero programming, discovers the network and the ReQuest host automatically, and populates Album Art and complete music metadata without user intervention.
Of course, Freedom retains the underlying Nokia N800 functionality: Users can browse the Web or answer email (just two examples), and when it is time to change the music simply select the Freedom application. Its “discovery” ability automatically runs whenever the Freedom returns to the home network; come home from the coffee shop, open the Freedom application and once again, the N800 is a ReQuest controller.
The ReQuest Freedom delivers full control of rooms, volume, and media-selection, and with one Freedom/N800, customers can access a ReQuest music server from different rooms or zones.

New Serious Play software update
Increases ReQuest iQ Multiroom Music System to 32 Zones
Ballston Spa, New York—November 2007—Music-server originator ReQuest (www.request.com) announces a software upgrade for the Serious Play operating system for all ReQuest music servers and the iQ Intelligent Music System. Serious Play 4.5.2 allows the iQ family of hard-disk-based multiroom audio systems to distribute independent music programming to as many as 32 discrete rooms or zones, a level of power that opens a new world of potential to both home-system and commercial applications.
“With 32 zones available, the iQ Intelligent Music System now offers a powerful music solution to even the most expansive or elaborate home system,” says Bill McKiegan, ReQuest’s V.P. of Sales & Marketing. “Every room in even the largest home or estate can now enjoy fully independent access to the complete music library with all the benefits of two-way control, and the
powerful yet easy programming and playback options for which iQ is well known.” McKiegan continues, “Of equal note, 32-zone capability makes the iQ attractive to a range of commercial applications.”
ReQuest’s iQ Intelligent Music System combines the convenience of easy, intuitive, touchpanel-controlled whole-house audio with the powerful music storage and retrieval of hard-disk-based server design—plus the genuinely high-end sonic performance and unstinting quality for which ReQuest is known. The root system comprises the iQ.IMS Intelligent Music Server and the iQ.IMA 16-channel power amplifier, with control via a range of tabletop, in-wall, and wireless touchpanel options, or via virtual and Web-enabled devices.
Now, building on the iQ system’s well-established foundation of performance and unexcelled ergonomics, the Intelligent Music System’s unprecedented new expandability to 32 zones will reinforce ReQuest solutions’ leadership position.
iQ.IMS’s 32-zone performance is achieved with the addition of the iQ.SCK4, a USB-to-serial hub that permits the iQ.IMS server to communicate with up to four Intelligent Multichannel Amplifiers, to comprise a staggering 64 channels for 32 discrete rooms or zones. (The iQ.SCK2 is available for integrating two iQ.IMAs for systems of up to 16 zones.) Once connected, the iQ.IMS server automatically discovers the additional IMA amplifier(s), then adds them to the ”Rooms” section of the Web-server configuration tool, where they can be assigned and routed in the usual way. Whether distributing audiophile-grade sound to eight or fewer zones, or to up to 32 zones, the iQ.IMS distributes as many as six stereo music sources in audiophile quality: four CD-based streams from the internal hard-disk library, and two originating from AMFM/Satellite radio via compatible outboard tuners, which currently include models from Polk, Nuvo, Sherbourne Technologies, and Antex. The iQ system also offers two additional streams of Internet radio, for a grand total of eight independent sources.
The new ReQuest iQ.SCK4 (for functionality up to 32 zones) is available immediately, at a manufacturer’s suggested price of $250. The 16-zone 1Q.SCK2 (formerly named the iQ.RCK), also used for integrating outboard radio tuners, carries a suggested price of $150.

ReQuest Takes Music Back-up Seriously
Ballston Spa, New York-June 22, 2006-ReQuest, Inc., the industry leader in digital music-server hardware and software for home entertainment and media systems, agrees that all important data should be backed up, and that your personal music collection is absolutely no exception. With the introduction of the new ReQuest ARQIVET, you can have the security of automatic backup of your full-library, the convenience of full functionality, and the bonus of an additional, fully independent audio zone to extend music into other rooms of the house with systems incorporating AudioReQuest N.Series, F.Series and S.Series music servers.
The ARQIVE component is so versatile that it can be placed in the same location as the system's primary music server or in another room, a separate office, workshop, vacation home, or literally anywhere in the world with broadband Internet access. When a second ARQIVE is installed in another location, ReQuest's NetSyncT technology (patent-pending) automatically transfers the music from the primary AudioReQuest server to the ARQIVE via the Internet. The owner can now enjoy full access and full-fidelity playback of their entire music library at their vacation home location while knowing they have a back-up copy of their music library in their main system.

With NetSync technology, both their music server and ARQIVE back up system automatically synchronize so any changes made to the main music library will be reflected on both components."
ReQuest offers its new backup solution in three models: the ARQIVE.250, ARQIVE.500, and ARQIVE.800, capable of back-up/storage library capacities of respectively, 250, 500, or 800 CDs in uncompressed WAV format; these capacities are as much as ten times greater using data-compressed files. In the event of serious damage to the main music server, restoring the system is as easy as swapping out the hard drive from the ARQIVE to the AudioReQuest music server.
In addition to seamlessly backing up the library of the primary AudioReQuest music server, any ARQIVE model can be used as an additional zone to extend music playback to more rooms of the house simultaneously. A single set of audio outputs provides full access to the library with independent program selection and control-and, thanks to network-based distribution, no additional wiring is required.
Diagnostic monitoring of the ReQuest ARQIVE is easily available with ReQuest's proprietary ARQLinkT software which allows users to log in to a Mac or PC anywhere in the world to monitor a variety of functions including temperature, network status, hard drive capacity usage, hard drive health, operating voltage and communication status between the AudioReQuest music server and the ARQIVE.

audio outputs, which allows the ability to send independent audiophile
quality music to two or four remote rooms or zones each with complete
control over program selection and play/pause/fast transport control.
Additional F.Series models can be added to the system to scale to literally
unlimited extra rooms or zones.
Supported music formats include the industry-standard MP3 compressed
audio, full fidelity WAV, FLAC, and Ogg Vorbis which allows the F.Series
models to store complete collections of songs and albums at the best
possible quality with true audiophile performance capability. The F2.250
can store 250 CDs in WAV or 1000 CDs in MP3/320kps formats while the
larger F4.500 can store 500 CDs in perfect WAV quality or four times
as much in MP3 compressed quality. The F.Series also features the previously
mentioned new touch screen compatible user interface.
Additional zones can be added to seamlessly expand any system featuring
one or more F.Series models by adding an optional new Z.Series unit.
Adding a Z.Series unit also provides ReQuest’s famous automatic
failsafe backup feature.
N.Series
Designed for simple integration systems and as a high quality music source
for home theater installations, the single zone output N.Series model
N1.125 features the previously mentioned new touch screen compatible
user interface and instant access to hundreds of CDs by Artist, Album,
Genre and Song. The internal hard drive capacity will hold 125 CDs
in WAV, or 500 CDs in MP3/320kps formats. Adding music to the collection
and creating individual playlists is as simple as inserting a new CD.
Over please…
N.Series and F.Series both feature fast, easy integration with popular
portable digital music devices such as the iPod, under both Mac or
Windows operating systems, using existing home networking communications
and simple drag-and-drop synchronization.
ReQuest’s patented NetSync™ technology allows the N.Series
and F.Series to share entire music collections with second homes, vacation
houses, and work via any Ethernet-connected PC or MAC computer. NetSync™ makes
it easy to access your music anywhere additional systems are installed
whether its across the hall or across the Pacific. ReQuest’s MyARQ™ webserver
and Java-based software-remote allow any web-browser-equipped PC or Mac
to access, control, and manage playlists plus act as a secure access
point.
The slim-line all-metal cabinets and solid Aluminum front panels found
on the N.Series and F.Series are elegantly formed and meticulously finished
in black, with a silver front panel option. All models are rack-mountable
and feature ‘QuickSwap’ removable, 3.5-inch hard-disk drives
that make for easy, cost-effective expansion and transportability. All
include a built-in front panel CD tray for quick auto encoding, rear-panel
USB ports, and analog and digital audio outputs. A supplied 64-key wireless
remote controller provides fully flexible integration of on-screen displays
via a full range of video outputs: VGA, composite, S-Video, and component-video.
Both products are designed, engineered, meticulously tested and assembled
at ReQuest’s facility in upstate New York.
ReQuest Multimedia
Launches Firmware v1.9.2
Ballston Spa, New York—March 17, 2004—ReQuest Multimedia,
the industry leader in digital music servers for audio and audio-video
entertainment systems, proudly announces the latest release of its AudioReQuest
software, v1.9.2. ReQuest’s new firmware features automatic Internet
AlbumArt Lookup, Play While Encoding, New Screen Saver Options, Enhanced
Feedback for control systems such as Crestron and AMX, and the latest
Free dB Database containing over 1,000,000 albums. Also, included are
updates for JavaRemote 4.5 Windows and Macintosh Remote Software, ARQPocket
2.0 PocketPC software, and the latest Crestron modules and panel designs.
Automatic Internet AlbumArt Lookup is one of the many advanced features
in Firmware v1.9.2. An AudioReQuest can now automatically look up Album
Art when properly configured to connect to the Internet. Simply drop
a CD into the encoding tray and the internet-enabled AudioReQuest music
server simultaneously looks up both the text information and corresponding
cover art for the album. The new JavaRemote 4.5 and ARQPocket 2.0 both
display AlbumArt over IP.
Play While Encoding is another advancement included in Firmware v1.9.2.
As the CD is being encoded, the user can continue to play selected music.
Customers can now encode music to their collection as they listen to
other songs already encoded to their collection.
Additionally, the New Screen Saver options give customers the ability
to use Album Art as Screen Savers or they can upload digital pictures
for a customized slide-show while listening to music.
Steve Vasquez, Co-Founder of ReQuest Multimedia, says, “v1.9.2
represents the best of what ReQuest has to offer. These added features
are based on feedback received from our substantial dealer base”.
Vasquez adds, “I’m extremely proud of the way our team responded
with what we feel are groundbreaking features for the digital music server
market.”
