Time to Stay Home from the Theater?

(NC)–Are you frustrated with paying more than ten bucks for a movie? Or even worse, more than fifty dollars to go to a concert? Invest in a home theater system and the experience will rival your favorite theater or concert venue.

Multi-channel home theater systems sales have overtaken the familiar two-channel stereo systems in the ever-evolving world of audio/video electronics. These new systems not only recreate a cinematic environment but also excel for music, capable of producing the ambience of a rock concert right in your own home.

You are probably familiar with the standard stereo pair of left and right speakers used in a stereo system but there are 4 other speakers required for home theater surround sound. A true home theater system consists of at least 5 speakers and a subwoofer like the Mirage OMNISAT 6 with 5 speakers and perfectly matched LF 150 subwoofer.

One of the most important home theater speakers is called the center channel. When someone on the screen talks, you should have the impression that the words are coming from their mouth. So, the center channel speaker should be centered on top of or below the TV because it handles almost all the dialogue and this will lock the voices to the TV screen. Surround sound processing can direct up to 60%-70% of a movie’s soundtrack to the center channel so this is not an area to scrimp and save.

Surround speakers are the left and right speakers that are positioned either on a rear or side wall, just behind or adjacent to the listening area, and typically mounted at a height of about 6 feet. They kick in when something on the screen, like a jet flying past your head, dictates that they should work. If action on your TV screen implies that something happened in back of you, or moves from front to rear, then the surround speakers should smoothly take over from the front speakers at that moment.

A subwoofer is a speaker with a built in amplifier whose sole job is to create deep, earth-shattering bass. This is the speaker that makes you believe a T-Rex is walking through your living room when watching Jurassic Park.

Very low frequencies are difficult for the human ear to pinpoint, like those generated by thunder; you hear it but you can’t accurately locate it like you can a high frequency like a whistle. So, the subwoofer’s placement is the least critical of all home theater speakers. Just place it on the floor among your left and right speakers and you’re good to go.

For affordable life like home theater experience listen to the mirage omnipolar series speakers. So go get some new speakers and join the world of Home Theater. You will never have to complain about your seats or blocked view again when you have the best seats in the house.
