VIDKRON INTRODUCES FLAGSHIP PROJECTOR
New LightAmp™ LCD Model Boasts Tremendous Brightness
Ideal Choice for Family Room Installations

Las Vegas, Nevada…January 8, 2004…Vidikron has introduced its flagship projector marking the pinnacle of performance for large screen applications. Showing for the first time here at CES 2004 in their booth #17277, LVCC South Hall 1&2, the new Vision™ Model 100 has been specifically engineered to produce high performance video in the kinds of environments most people use to enjoy their entertainment – family rooms, great rooms and living rooms.

“ Most high-end video projectors are intended for use in dedicated home theater environments with controlled lighting. Not everyone wishes to dedicate a room solely for home theater, however,” said Mark Stein, Director of Corporate Communication for Vidikron. “Many prefer to have their entertainment systems in the rooms they use for everyday living, without the inconvenience of retiring to a specialized and expensive dedicated theater, often isolated from household activities.”

Vidikron has responded to this largely unaddressed need by introducing the Model 100. The Model 100 has been specially designed to produce very high quality, high resolution pictures even in rooms with plenty of light. The result is a plasma-like picture on a very large screen, even in daylight, with drapes open and lights ablaze!

Vidikron has accomplished this by incorporating its advanced LightAmp™ LCD technology. This technology offers the perfect blend of high quality image reproduction and extremely high
light output. The Model 100 produces an amazing 4000 ANSI lumens of light output (CSMS™ Light Output of 69.3 ft-Lamberts). This tremendous brightness is generated by an optical light engine design utilizing two high-tech UHP lamps, producing a combined, full half-kilowatt of illumination. The contrast ratio is an impressive 900:1.

The Model 100’s 16:9 native aspect ratio makes it ideal for widescreen viewing, while its 3-panel, 1366 x 768 native resolution produces crisp, crystal clear high definition images with deeply saturated colors and natural, highly refined detail.

Vidikron’s outstanding internal video processing with 3:2 film detection circuitry and the Model 100’s full HDTV compatibility (with outboard tuner/decoder or satellite receiver) make it versatile enough to handle every video source.

In addition, Vidikron’s multiple aspect ratio control includes its unique IntelliWide™ mode for viewing standard video formats in widescreen without loss of image quality. Discrete IR and
RS-232 control, keystone correction and lens shift capability make custom installation seamless, while discrete source and aspect ratio selection accommodate any automation control system.

The Vision Model 100 comes packaged in stunning, Italian inspired styling and finished in a soft white to blend seamlessly with any decor.

The highly respected Vidikron brand was established in 1980 in Milan, Italy, and was acquired by Runco International in 2002. Vidikron offers a comprehensive selection of high performance, cutting edge video products, distributed through a select network of authorized Vidikron dealers and custom installation professionals. The VP42-HD, like all models in the PlasmaView line, brings advanced engineering innovations that provide excellent brightness, contrast and black level performance with outstanding video processing.

“The PlasmaView line of widescreen monitors has been expanded to further meet the needs of our dealers. In the process of building the Vidikron brand, it’s our goal to foster and respond to feedback from the field. This new high resolution model is another result of those efforts,” said Mark Stein, Vidikron’s Director Corporate Communications.

The new VP-42HD and all Vidikron monitors, share Vidikron’s unique—Dynamic Pixel Protection™ circuitry, which helps to protect the plasma panel from stationary image burn, a persistent industry-wide problem with previous plasma monitors and TV’s.

Vidikron’s superior video processing with 3:2 film detection circuitry is built into all Vidikron monitors. It provides exceptional detail and artifact-free video enhancement, enabling the new VP-42HD and all Vidikron monitors to reproduce even standard NTSC material at near HD quality. All models feature multiple aspect ratio control including Vidikron’s IntelliWide™ mode, offering the ability to view standard video formats in widescreen without loss of image quality.

The VP-42HD and all models in the PlasmaView Series feature discrete IR and RS-232 controls to simplify custom installation applications, while discrete source and aspect ratio selection provide a seamless interface for automation control systems.
