NEC-MITSUBISHI ELECTRONICS DISPLAY LAUNCHES EXPANSIVE
20.1-INCH
UXGA LCD MONITOR WITH THE LATEST DESKTOP DISPLAY INTELLIGENCE
New NEC MultiSync LCD2080UX supports higher resolutions for exceptionally
crisp images and text
CHICAGO January 20, 2003 Extending advanced monitor intelligence
to an expansive 20.1-inch viewable LCD monitor, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics
Display of America Inc., the number one stand-alone vendor of flat panel
desktop displays, today introduced its new NEC MultiSync(R) LCD2080UX
display with high resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200. Designed to help professionals
enhance their productivity, the monitor can be remotely controlled through
a network by IT administrators or accessed directly with a computer mouse
and keyboard by users. Its sophisticated features and sleek design with
ultra thin-frame bezel streamline the computing process in markets where
the large viewable image area of an LCD monitor is necessary to process,
communicate and respond to changing information.
"The goal of enhancing corporate productivity by purchasing large
LCD monitors that display more information while conserving valuable desktop
space is common among NEC-Mitsubishi's customers in the financial, medical,
manufacturing, computer-aided-design, transportation and trade show markets,
among others," said Todd Fender, product manager at NEC-Mitsubishi
Electronics Display of America, Inc. "The new NEC MultiSync LCD2080UX
reinforces NEC-Mitsubishi's commitment to its customers by providing intelligent
tools that help customers enjoy a new level of computing efficiency than
ever before. Our leadership in the 20.1-inch display market spans back
to 1997 with our introduction of the industry's premier desktop display
and continued with our launch of the NEC MultiSync LCD2010X dual connection
monitor in 2000, which accounted for more than 55 per cent of the 20-inch
stand-alone monitor market share in 2002 according to SRI."
For professionals that want to access and modify their monitor settings
with just a touch of their mouse or keyboard, the NEC MultiSync LCD2080UX
utilizes the company's exclusive NaViSet™ software based on Display
Data Channel/Command Interface (DDC/CI) protocol. In addition, companies
can remotely control and track the monitor's settings using the DDC/CI
function through a local area network or signal cable. Information from
the monitor such as its serial number, model name and date of manufacture
can also be communicated to a central system using asset management
software that adheres to VESA DDC and EDID standards. NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics
Display's proprietary CableComp(TM) long cable technology ensures that
the monitor can be managed from a distant control room with cables up
to 100 meters/326 feet long, without compromising image quality or interrupting
end-users' work environments.
The NEC MultiSync LCD2080UX has an ultra thin-frame bezel that measures
16 mm on all sides, reducing its horizontal width by almost 70 percent
compared to the preceding 20.1-inch viewable NEC MultiSync LCD2010X model.
End-users also benefit from more vivid screen images as a result of the
monitor's new automatic black level adjustment function for grayscale
control and AutoBright function for brightness intensity control. The
rapid response time of 25 ms provides a more accurate viewing experience
by virtually eliminating ghosting and image trailing from video applications.
"Specialized organizations that utilize large LCD monitors recognize
the solid return on investment that new technology brings and are increasingly
taking advantage of competitive price points to upgrade," said Rhoda
Alexander, director of monitor research at iSuppli/Stanford Resources.
"The ability to manage monitors both remotely and directly using
a mouse or keyboard offers benefits to a wide variety of businesses, particularly
companies utilizing hundreds or even thousands of LCD monitors."
To ensure the NEC MultiSync LCD2080UX monitor's compatibility with different
computer systems, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display includes its upgraded
Ambix+(TM) triple-input technology for up to two simultaneous analog or
digital inputs. Upon powering up the computer system, the new model's
DVI cable detection function identifies which signal cable is attached
to the monitor's DVI-I connector, thereby eliminating manual setup steps
and assuring optimal performance.
The new monitor uses NEC's XtraView+(TM) wide-angle viewing technology,
allowing multiple users to see the screen from an industry-leading 176
degrees horizontally and vertically, 88 degrees from the center of the
monitor. Professionals also have the option of adjusting the monitor's
height via the stand and pivoting the panel between landscape and portrait
modes for more effective viewing of presentations, spreadsheets and word
processing. Another ergonomic advantage is the monitor's cable management
feature, which prevents unattractive, space-consuming wire clutters.
