FIDO LAUNCHES NEW CATEGORY OF WIRELESS MONTHLY AIRTIME PACKAGES FOR URBAN CUSTOMERS IN 9 CANADIAN MARKETS

People who live, work and play in the city can now choose an airtime package with all the right amount of minutes for use in new Urban zones

Montréal, August 8, 2006—On August 9, Fido will launch a brand new category of wireless monthly airtime package that gives customers more of what they want—more anytime minutes; and less of what they don’t need—coverage in places they rarely visit.

Urban, by Fido, is a new zone-based product that marries the concept of urban zones with a defined amount of anytime minutes, and will be introduced in Quebec City, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, London, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria. Now urban-based wireless customers who prefer not to watch the clock with evening and weekend options may find this package more valuable and flexible for their wireless lifestyle.

“We took a long look at how our customers use their Fido Service and determined that over 60% of them who live in cities use more than 97% of their minutes in a limited geographic area,” said Karim Salabi, Vice-President of Marketing for Fido. “With our new Urban product, these customers can pay as little as $30 per month for 400 outgoing airtime minutes they can use anytime, and receive all the incoming calls they need while in their zone.”

“Fido has always been popular with the young urban adult crowd, and Urban is designed specifically for them,” said Salabi. “With the Urban package, customers won’t have to think about the time of day when they place a call since all of their minutes are ‘anytime’
minutes. Although it will appeal to a wide variety of customers, it’s especially well-suited to the people who are urban-based and only home to sleep and have breakfast. It’s like being able to order a slice of pizza when that’s all you want, instead of having to pay for
the whole pie.”

Customers who travel regularly outside of the urban zones of Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver can also choose to add the Suburban Zone option for $5 per month to cover an additional area outside of the main urban zone. Even if customers travel outside of their zone, they still have access to the national GSM network on a pay-per-use basis.

Fido’s new Urban packages are available through Fido retail outlets and retail partners, and on-line at fido.ca. These new packages can be used with any of Fido’s handsets and can be partnered with data and long-distance options to add further value.

Other charges, including a $6.95 monthly system access fee (non-government fee), apply in addition to the applicable monthly
service fee. For detailed information, please visit fido.ca. Fido is a registered trademark of Fido Solutions Inc.

FIDO UPDATE

Over the last few months, Fido has notched up a few more "firsts" in the Canadian wireless market and we've made some exciting additions to our product and service portfolio

Revolutionary new prepaid pricing

Fido now offers a new 15¢-per-minute airtime rate for Fido Prepaid Service, enabling customers to save up to 60% over the prepaid "anytime" rates offered by other Canadian wireless providers. Our new array of voucher denominations and rates provides prepaid service customers with many of the same benefits and pricing features that post-paid service customers have enjoyed for years.

Per-second billing means up to 37% more talk time

Per-second billing means that Fido customers get up to 37% more talk time on monthly airtime packages as compared to per-minute billing, and enjoy the lowest long-distance rate for calls within Canada and to the U.S at 10¢ per minute, any time. There's no contract to sign and customers don't pay any activation fees.

Minute Tracker

Are you minding your pennies, or trying to teach your kids the value of their wireless allowance? Fido has a new trick: Minute Tracker. This is a valuable tool for parents overseeing the spending habits of talkative teens or for customers on strict monthly budgets. Customers receive text messages on their Fido handset each month when they have used 75% of their monthly airtime and when they reach their monthly minute limit. Available to all customers, Minute Tracker is automatically included with selected monthly packages.

Sony Ericsson T200 handset

A Fido exclusive and the first of this new brand in Canada, the Sony Ericsson T200 marries Sony's design expertise and Ericsson's wireless experience. The T200 is a GPRS world phone at the affordable price of $100 (after credits at activation). Just a few things that make this handset attractive are the Icy Blue colour, blue backlighting, picture messaging, games and one-touch, mobile Internet access.

VTech A700 handset-Fido's lightest handset ever

Another Fido exclusive is the VTech A700, a cool, stylish and compact handset that delivers many of the features found only on high-end wireless phones. Fido worked closely with Canadian-based VTech Telecommunications Canada Ltd. to develop the features of the A700. The handset has one-touch joystick navigation, an illuminated keypad, predictive text input and a unique icon interface. At $75 (after $50 credit at activation), this handset is ideal for students heading back to the study halls.

$50 monthly unlimited data package extended

Fido's groundbreaking wireless data package that includes unlimited mobile Internet access for $50 per month has been extended until the end of 2002. Customers who use a GPRS handset or a PC card can enjoy wireless Internet access across North America at one of the lowest rates in the world.

GPRS data roaming in the United States

Fido takes the lead with GPRS data roaming services in the U.S. The Novatel Wireless Merlin G100TM PC Card offers valuable next-generation capabilities to Canadians doing business across the continent. Customers have access to the largest North American GPRS data network and international GSM voice network available to Canadians.
